The Immaculate Heart of Mary
The month of August gives us a beautiful opportunity to turn our hearts toward the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the midst of this month, on August 15, the Church celebrates the great Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This celebration also helps us reflect upon the Immaculate Heart of Mary—a heart completely open to God, filled with faith and charity and united perfectly to the Heart of her Divine Son.
When we speak of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we are not simply speaking about Mary’s physical heart. In Sacred Scripture, the heart represents the deepest center of the human person: the place of faith, love, memory, decision, and communion with God. Mary’s heart reveals the interior life of the woman who gave herself completely to the Lord.
In the Blessed Virgin Mary, we are given the perfect example of this maternal love residing in the heart. Sacred Scripture tell us that Mary “kept all these things, pondering them in her heart.” (Luke 2:19-20).
This is the spirit of the Seven Mothers Ministry. Each week, you come before the Blessed Sacrament carrying your children in your hearts. For one hour, you place them before Jesus and entrust their lives, their needs, their struggles, their vocation and their future to Him.
There may be many things in the lives of your children that you cannot change. But you can always pray and bring them before the Lord in adoration.
Your prayer before the Blessed Sacrament is an act of love, but it is also an act of faith and trust, your prayer says, “Lord, I entrust them to you, they are yours, may your Will be done in their lives.”
As you spend your Holy Hour before our Eucharistic Lord, ask the Blessed Mother to remain with you. Let her teach you how to pray with patience, how to hope when the way is uncertain and how to surrender your children with confidence to the loving care of God.
The Catechism calls Mary’s Assumption “a singular participation in her Son’s Resurrection and an anticipation of the resurrection of other Christians” (CCC 966).
May your faithful hour before the Blessed Sacrament become a source of graces for your children and your families.
In this Feast, in which we celebrate the Assumption of the Blessed Mother, let us entrust ourselves to her, let us ask that through her maternal hands she may offer our human will to God, and that through the same hands we may obtain the Gift of the Divine Will operating in our hearts. May we live the Will of God in the present moment in our lives for the praise and glory of His name.

Mary, Mother of the Church, lead us always to the Heart of your Son, Jesus. Amen
